Construction of Parangi Primary School

Construction of Parangi Primary School aims “Supporting Afghan Girls and boys to access safe schools in Gerdah Seray District of Paktya province Afghanistan. This project addresses the shortage of school building ensuring safe schooling for 520 children. The school building will include six classrooms, one teacher's office room, latrines, a handwashing facility, solar system and a boundary wall, thereby creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for children across the communities under coverage. The People of Japan, UNICEF, Involved Consultancies, Constructing Company, Ministry of Education, and the project Extenders/Engineers as well as ACDO itself are the key stakeholders of the project.

WASH Interventions:

• Constructing boundary walls for schools, ensuring safe environment in primary schools.
• Digging Water Wells, ensuring access to potable water for students and school’s staff.
• Constructing WASH related infrastructures such as latrines and handwashing facilities.
• Installation of clean drinking water points accessible for child students and school’s staff.
• Improving Hygiene Practices by ensuring compliance with Sphere standards.
• Minimizing open defecation practices, reducing infection causes disease transmission.
• Improving Handwashing practices among children, school staff and their families.
• Awareness raising on importance of hygiene and sanitation practices and habits.
