To Support the Consolidation and Expansion of Community-Based Education (CBE) in Laghman Province

The mass closure of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 927 schools damaged and destroyed in the first half of the year, and now the lack of funds to pay 70 percent of public schools teachers have severely restricted access to education, disproportionately affecting girls. Already the education of some 9.3 million had been largely interrupted since 2020 due to COVID-19 related challenges and restrictions. An estimated 4.2 million children are out of school (60 per cent are girls), 56 including children with disabilities. Only in 2022 around 7.9 million children are in need of education assistance (HNO 2022). In Laghman province according to the Education Cluster, there are 86,228 out -of- school children out of 217598 school-aged children. The 2022 HRP targets 25,451 children (13,786 girls) with Education in Emergency (EiE) assistance. The Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) has educational programs in various provinces of Afghanistan and has good experience and ability in implementing educational programs. Therefore, ACDO will establish 106 CBE/ALC classes with financial support of UNICEF in (Alishang, Alingar and Dawlat Shah) districts of Laghman province for 3708 vulnerable children.
